Форма организации производства, появившаяся впервые в Японии, при которой продукция, комплектующие изделия и материалы, необходимые для следующей стадии производства, поступают только тогда и в таком количестве, когда и сколько их требуется. Система JIT позволяет производителю экономить на хранении готовой продукции, которая незамедлительно поставляется потребителю, а также продукции незавершенного производства, которая сразу используется в производственном процессе. Нормальное функционирование системы требует высокой степени слаженности действий всех участников при использовани преимуществ вертикальной интеграции. Одновременно система позволяет компаниям сохранять свою независимость.
